The course will be shared on a platform that you will have unlimited access to once purchased.

You will be given access to a private Facebook group where you can post all of your work-related questions. One of our designers will provide feedback and help on a daily basis.

The course can take anywhere from one weekend to one month (or more!) depending on how slow or fast you want to take it. The skills you learn however, will last you for life. You can come back and refresh your memory  any time as you have forever access.

If you have suitable elements you can use your own. Just make sure they inked with a pen nib minimum 0.3mm in width.

It depends. We design our courses so that they are accessible to even early-stage designers. We take care to ensure you feel comfortable and confident taking our course while getting the most out of it. But, although we do start at the beginning, there is some assumed knowledge and some of the more basic steps are skipped over quite fast. So, if you’re totally brand new to this thing we call Adobe Photoshop, like if you’ve never created a canvas or know nothing about working with layers, then you might like to make sure you’re across a few of the basics first. A good place to start is our brand new Beginners Course.

You sure can. We have a course showing you how to do exactly that: Floral Illustration for Fabric Design. We’ll run you through the best tools for the job (including paper type, pencils, graphites) and how to use them, how to choose your reference material, detailed instructions on core industry drawing techniques such as stipple, cross-hatch and sketching, give you an overview of the stages of textile production and show you how to compose a successful layout.

When it comes to Adobe Photoshop, there’s always more to learn. And this course is designed to launch you into the world of surface pattern design. You’ll pick up lots of time-saving tricks (ones we use in the studio every day), get the list of our most commonly used short cuts (these are seriously essential), you’ll learn how to colour your design inside photoshop (and more), and we’ll show you how to create a commercially-viable layout (commercial customers have particular specs for print production – we explain what these are and how you can nail it).

No, in fact you have life time access. That means you can dive in and take them at your own pace, whether that’s soaking it all up on one go, or taking it slow and learning a little at a time. It also means you can do it when and where it suits you. You can watch it as many times as you like. So whether you want to watch it over and over to get your skills just right, or you need to revisit what you’ve learnt down the track to freshen up your skills, the choice is yours.

No. There are no test when you start, in the middle, or when you’ve finished. Learning is all up to you, and we like it that way. Students who take our courses are passionate about surface print design, so we’re here to share our knowledge, not mark your report card. Nobody needs that stress, especially your creative selves. Yes, of course. Sure, what you learn is worth its weight in gold. But it’s also nice to have that piece of paper. So when you finish, we supply an industry-recognized certification, signed by your instructors and Longina Phillips herself. With Longina Phillips Designs studio known the fashion world over, we’re sure it will help you open doors and be recognised by hiring staff as having just the right skills for the job.

Unfortunately, the platform we house our courses on does not allow for multiple currencies. So we had to pick just one currency for payments, even though our customers come from all over the world. As the US dollar is the most commonly used, we’ve chosen that as the easiest for everyone. So while yes, we are Australians, we offer our courses in USD as it is more widely used than AUD.

It may be. Tax deductible expenses vary depending on the country you live in so it’s important to check with your national tax office. In Australia, you may be able to claim a deduction for self-education or, if you’re self-employed, you may be able to claim it as an expense if it’s directly related to your current income stream. Always make sure you seek professional advice and check with your accountant.
